totally true...

is it really monday morning already?  don't get me wrong..i am ever so thankful to wake up each morning and so very blessed; but i will admit monday morning is not my favorite; i am sure some day i'll appreciate it in all its glory, i assume when i am retired and i don't have to work monday-friday and i forget that its even monday at all; i bet it will be absolutely my favorite day of the week-knowing that all the working people are out there fighting the traffic and i am enjoying my retirement home by the lake sipping coffee (maybe in 30 years i'll like coffee and of  course have a retirement home by a lake).  kman will be my age in 30 years-will he be married? will he have children?  what about my little doodle?  he's barely saying a few words now-what's his destiny?  its fun to wonder?  not so fun that its monday morn though.

so yesterday afternoon i had a moment.  it was a real everyday true life moment that i am sure i'll have to repeat again at some point; but hoping that its a ways away and hopefully i made my point.  it was a moment that i felt had to happen-but as i tried to remain calm and quickly make my point-i was dying inside.

hubs wasn't feeling totally wonderful yesterday afternoon-he had a migraine and went to lye down upstairs.  the boys were running around playing and i decided to fold laundry.  at one point something happened and kman said "oh god!".  he's been saying this off and on for the past few weeks and i've told him NUMEROUS times that it's not appropriate and i don't want him to talk that way.  (i assume, he's picking it up from school)  when he said it yesterday, i specificially said "look buddy, we've talked about this before and its not a nice way to talk-if you say that again i am going to wash your mouth out with soap".  something that's happened to me as a kid-but i am sure it was because i said a "bad word" but....i told him the punishment and i had to stick to it.
NOT even five minutes later-doodle jumped on him playfully and kman belts out "oh god!"  ok, ok, first i have to find a bar of soap...and once i did and kman saw it he freaked out.  a tantrum like i've never seen.  my first thought was to give up-hopefully he was scared enough and hopefully he knew i meant business and fingers crossed-we weren't going to have that kind of talk again.  but...the whole weekend was filled with 2nd, 3rd, 4th...a million chances on everything and i felt like i needed to stand firm on this.  so-finally the soap went in his mouth and he bit down once and of course cried.  i almost cried as well...
this will hurt me, more than it hurts you?  TOTALLY TRUE!

  1. I am so proud of you for staying strong and following through with the punishment. I can only imagine how hard it was but I bet he will think twice before saying it again. You are a great Mom and I'm sure Keller has already forgiven you. :)
