this time last year i was patiently (ha-ha!) waiting for his (or her arrival).
on 4/21/10 i had my 38 week appointment with one of the mid-wives from my practice who assured me that all babies come out eventually and of course mine was no exception. if you've been there-you know those last few weeks are unbearable. the waiting is horrible! atleast it was for me anyway. (of course the week before at my 37 week appointment the mid-wife told me to get ready, since my 1st arrived early-this one was most likely to arrive early as well.) BIG MISTAKE sharing that type of information with an already inpatient lady-i was ready to go....and so
at that 38 week appointment the mid-wife even offered to deliver the baby on her "on call" night, once i passed 39 weeks and i was to discuss it with the doctor next week at that appointment. surely...i wasn't going to have to wait another week, ugh.
i don't remember exactly, but i am pretty sure now much wasn't going on in the birthing area either...i was only 1 cm and had been that way since they started checking me. heck for all i know i could have started at 1 cm...all i knew at that point was that after sitting at my office chair for more than 20 or 30 minutes at a time-i would get up and i was for sure the baby was going to fall out right there-there was so much pressure and the baby's head was so low. UGH, the lovelies of being pregnant :) (thankfully i had versed my co-worker(s) on what to do in case of an emergency! ha-ha!)

you know at this point everyone is on "standby" and patiently waiting to hear what the doctor says and i felt almost like a failure that i had to report "no news" "still waitiing". i was so huge that according to some i should have had that baby months ago-don't you just love all of the lovely comments folks make? i don't think hubs was quite ready yet-it was too soon for him (i think we were still trying to nail down names-we are so horrible in this department) and kman was still unsure of what exactly was going to happen-but by this point we'd been to the "big brother" class at our hospital, he'd gotten a tour and a t-shirt and we'd been reading a story about a little boy that is also patiently waiting for his baby to arrive as well (a theme here-God certainly teaching us something!) we'd talked several times about him staying with grandma m when mommy had to go to the hospital to "get" the baby. i guess we were all still getting ready and little baby was enjoying his last days in the only home he or she had ever known...the warm dark, loving mommy belly.
---in case you are wondering my cake(s) were actually no trouble to clean out of the pans last night...i think my issue may or may not be my stove (its gas) and so i think i may need to lower my temp and cook longer? hopefully this weekend/early next week i'll give it another whirl.
