today, i think about a very important person in my life.
six years ago today, i lost my gram.  she would have been 95 today and 96 early next month.  she was a fab lady and always went out of her way to help others.  she could have been a super pain in the you know what as well...but as with everything you take the good and the bad :)

i really hate that she never got a chance to meet my little guys and only hope that she is smiling at them from up in heaven.  she would have spoiled them rotten, and of course yelled at me because i didn't dress them warm enough or feed them right....actually thats probably the one thing she would have liked...those boys eat more veggies than the hubs and i combined.  they aren't too picky (except doodle regarding the order he is given things-ugh, another day~another story!)   and they love bananas (which i absolutely hate (ok hate is a strong word...i don't like the way they smell and they are mushy...)) and she was forever trying to get me to eat bananas, i am pretty sure this is her way of getting back at me for something ;)

i have so many great memories of her and she said some crazy things...but one of my favorite times, is when she was in the hospital before she passed away.  she was on this roller coster (as were we) and one day she was doing really great and the next she was really bad and then she'd have another good day, etc..  it was hard because you would prepare yourself for dying and then the next day she was perfect.  anyway, one of those good days i spent the evening with her and i remember a nurse came in to check on her and she said "this is my granddaughter, she is of the nicest girls you'll ever meet".  its one of those moments that i'll forever hold in my heart.
i always try to live up to that and hope she knows that.

i know that my parents didn't get the opportunity to know their grandparents at all and i feel extremely blessed that i had both of my grandmothers in my life until my late twenties.  i hope my boys have the same with all of their grandparents...they are truly gifts in our lives.
