where'd that long weekend go?

why is it we come back from long weekends so utterly exhausted because we crammed so many things in and could really use an extra day to actually relax-but would i really have used it to actually relax or would i have crammed another mess of things in? 
we went from barely 60 degrees on friday to 90 degrees yesterday-gotta LOVE the temperature swing. 

hubs and i worked on staining the deck on saturday-due to a snaffu with the color choice we got started a bit later than we really wanted to...but by 11am we were rocking and rolling....by 9:30pm we were still at it~barely able to see what we were doing and barely able to move.  i wasn't sure i'd actually be able to get out of bed on sunday morning~much thanks to my friends at advil ;~)

it ended up turning out great and looks so much better.  unfortunately i think we might need a second coat~so when we find another 10 hours we'll hop to it :)

yesterday morning we took the boys to the zoo...it was doodle's second official time there~but the first time he was only a few months old and really wasn't all that into it.  yesterday he was really watching the animals and LOVED the goats.  at the children's zoo~i am pretty sure he said "eye" (hi in doodlease) to every single goat.  most of whom just looked at him with a "whatever" sort of 'tude.

as you can see...they are being a bit lazy.  we didn't have any goat food...so we meant nothing to them.

check out this honkin' elephant.  i am pretty sure they are my favorite and probably could have sat and watched them all day.  i was unfortunately over ruled by others that were ready to move on and the sore reminder that the temperature was heating up and we had to move on.

doesn't kman look like he's having a blast?  we were almost ready to go at this point...

 our last stop was at the "cheetah run" show.  look at that cat go...i think it was kman's favorite!

what a nice weekend; we got to spend some time with family and friends and a big thanks to my mom who took the boys for most of the day on saturday so hubs and i could get the deck done.  now its back to reality again...
